This Privacy Policy describes how Bufft ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the Bufft: Expense Tracker application and related services (the "Service").

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information you provide

• Account information, if you create an account (e.g., email address and sign-in credentials).
• Financial data you manually enter into the app, such as transaction amounts, dates, merchants, categories, notes, budgets, and income entries. Bufft does not link to your bank or card accounts — all data is entered by you.
• Any questions, prompts, or messages you submit to the AI Financial Advisor feature.

1.2 Information generated by using the app

• App usage and interaction analytics (e.g., feature usage, crash and performance data).
• Subscription or purchase status, if you buy a paid plan (e.g., active/inactive, product ID, expiration date), processed through Apple or Google.
• App settings and preferences stored on your device (e.g., categories, budgets, notification settings).

2. How We Use Information

• Provide core app functionality (expense tracking, budgeting, categorization).
• Generate responses to your questions through the AI Financial Advisor feature.
• Validate subscriptions and support purchase/restore flows.
• Maintain, secure, and improve the Service, including through analytics.
• Respond to support requests and communicate with you about the Service.

3. The AI Financial Advisor Feature

Bufft includes an optional AI Financial Advisor feature that uses artificial intelligence, including third-party large language model technology, to generate general, automated responses based on the information and financial data you choose to provide.

Your prompts, questions, and the related data necessary to generate a response may be transmitted to and processed by third-party AI service providers for that purpose. We do not control, and are not responsible for, how those third parties handle data beyond what is disclosed in this Policy and their own applicable terms. Responses are generated automatically and are not reviewed by a human before being shown to you.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell personal data. We may share data with service providers that help operate the Service, including:

• Apple and/or Google (in-app purchases, platform, and app distribution services).
• Cloud hosting and database providers (to store your account and app data).
• AI/large language model service providers (to power the AI Financial Advisor feature).
• Analytics providers (to understand app usage and improve reliability).

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Bufft, our users, or others.

5. Data Retention

We retain information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see Section 6).

6. Your Controls and Rights

You can edit or delete the financial data you've entered directly within the app. You may also request access to, correction of, deletion of, or export of your personal information by contacting us using the details below. Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have additional rights regarding your personal information under applicable law.

7. Children's Privacy

Bufft is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in applicable jurisdictions), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

8. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
